St. Charles, MO: In 1992, a madman traveled along Interstate 70, randomly stopping at exits in Indianapolis, Wichita, Terre Haute, St. Louis, and Kansas City, selecting a quiet strip mall, and murdering the (usually female, almost always alone) store clerk before calmly slipping away. In one month, six victims were left behind, murdered in broad daylight in busy areas. There was no robbery. No sexual assault. No motive other than the thrill of the kill, and little evidence left behind. Bob Cyphers is an Edward R. Murrow and Emmy award winning journalist, having spent his professional life writing for newspapers and radio and television stations. For the past 34 years, he served as news editor for KMOV-TV in St. Louis. His final assignment before retiring in 2023 was traveling the country with the task force hunting down the I-70 killer.
